Argentina lets non-banks into debt sale

The Central Bank of Argentina has opened its debt auctions to private companies in a bid to soak up excess liquidity in the country.

A spokesperson for the central bank confirmed on Tuesday that the central bank opened the auction of its notes, called Lebacs, to private non-bank companies for the first time in three years on 20 July. "The decision was made in order to increase the quantity of potential buyers of Lebacs," the spokesperson told CentralBanking.com. The notes are used to sterilise
