Poland considers quantitative easing

The National Bank of Poland on Thursday could buy local banks' corporate debt.

The decision to buy bank debt forms part of a broader range of central bank proposals labelled the Pact for the Development of Credit Activity.

Under the pact, the authorities have allotted Z10 billion ($3.5 billion) to undertake the bank debt purchases. It will also fund discounts for new loans and extend the maturity of its open-market operations to 12 months.
