Bangladesh considering floating the taka - c bank

BANGLADESH - Bangladesh central bank governor Fakhruddin Ahmed said on Wednesday his country might consider floating the taka currency in an effort to further deregulate the money market.

"It (floating the currency) is under consideration by the government," Ahmed told Reuters. "Floating of the exchange rate is a live issue, but we have not yet decided on it."

The Bangladesh central bank currently sets an exchange rate for the taka with a band for trading in the interbank market. The rate is now
