SARB to issue upgraded banknotes in the new year

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) announced on Monday 13 December that it plans to issue upgraded banknotes with improved security features from 1 February 2005.

The SARB has enhanced some of the security features and revised some of the designs on its currency in line with international best practice. The upgraded security features have been introduced in order to maintain public confidence by ensuring that South Africa's currency utilises the latest technology which is internationally
