The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina started operations on August 11, 1997, following the adoption of a Central Bank Law by the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 20, 1997. As specified in the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Annex 4 of the Dayton Peace Accord), the bank is the sole authority for monetary policy and the issuance of the domestic currency throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
