Singapore commemorates independence with heart-shaped coin

The Monetary Authority of Singapore on July 11 launched a series of commemorative coins to mark 47 years of the nation's independence.

The design is the same on all the coins, with the material from which they are made being the difference between the coins in the series. The design of the coins draws inspiration from the 2012 National Day Parade theme, ‘Loving Singapore, Our Home'. It depicts children from different ethnic backgrounds rejoicing at a float at Marina Bay, the venue of parade
