Bank of Lithuania
Founded in 1922 (operated until August 1940) and re-established in March 1990 as a central bank. On 13 March 2001 a new Law on the Bank of Lithuania on its independence was approved by the Seimas (Parliament). In May 2004 the Bank of Lithuania became a member of the European System of Central Banks. Lithuania introduced the euro on 1 January 2015 and the Bank of Lithuania became part of the Eurosystem.
